Tenant Advocacy Project
The Tenant Advocacy Project provides free in person legal services for tenants facing eviction for non-payment of rent for reasons related to the Covid pandemic. Tenant advocates, including attorneys, are available at the same location as the Washington Township Small Claims Court on the days that eviction cases are scheduled on: (1) Mondays from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM; and (2) Tuesdays from 8:30 AM to 11:30 PM. Only tenants who are scheduled for court on the same day will be seen. Persons requesting services must bring: (1) a copy of the Notice of Claim; (2) Most recent signed lease; (3) Full 2020 tax return or current government benefit letter for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Snap), Low Income Housing Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP).
